Amazing Barn Transformation Into A Cozy Modern House

SHED architects changed a barn into an amazing modern house. The shape of the barn remained but it was refined. Inside we can also see some details that remind of a barn like rough wood on the walls or natural wooden floor. Every room in the house is developed around a minimal palette of materials and color, with extensive re-use of existing barn materials. Some of these materials included the re-use of the original barn siding for interior paneling, re-milling of salvaged floor joists for stair material, trim and countertops. These pieces are durable. The interior thanks to these solutions is very warm and cozy.

Sustainable Modern Home in Costa Rica: Areopagus Residence

Paravant Architects have designed the Areopagus Residence located in Atenas, Costa Rica. The main objective of the project development team was to create a home that would best communicate with the surrounding landscape:”Villa Areopagus sits modestly on the site, shrouded in the surrounding vegetation. The street facing facade is largely opaque – a massive concrete wall with selective punctures that only provide a glimpse of the interior. The openings are strategically placed to provide the house with cross ventilation and natural cooling. The private facade faces south and features transparent glazing which allows for complete views of the valley towards San Jose”. The residence features renewable energy sources, such as solar and photovoltaic systems and an on-site micro waste-water-treatment plant for irrigation. Find this project’s design approach captivating?

Bright And Eclectic Vintage House In Australia

Vintage is so amazing! This style gives coziness and warmness to any place, especially if, like in this case, several styles are mixed. The house is located in Melbourne, Australia and belongs to illustrator Paula Mills who decided to decorate her house herself, according to her taste. She decided to knock out some walls to create a lighter and brighter living space — a sort of blank canvas on which to layer more color and texture. The bits and pieces they’ve collected from the various places they’ve lived throughout the years — South Africa, England and now Australia — reflect a global aesthetic that is unique to their family and creates a comfortable and creative environment.

Old Oil Mill Restored Into A Modern House

Provence is a province in the south of France. It’s a charming place full of old architecture and vineyards. This old oil mill was built in the 19th century, recently it has been restored and transformed in a country house in Nimes. The open plan area downstairs includes the living-room, dining-room, kitchen and study room. The original interior design, inspired by the loft style, gives this house a very special character. While the house itself is classic all the furniture is modern with a classic or rustic touch. Here you can see a stunning material mix: stone walls, polished concrete floors, iron windows and natural timber. Neutral tones add charm and coziness to the place.

Welcome into a white dream home

Happy Weekend! Check out this wonderful house in South Africa. The owners wanted a lot of light so when they bought the house they tore down many walls and made the house more open.

Where ever you sit in the house you can see the sky. They wanted a feeling of space and a feeling that one is out. They also have tried to have things all over the house that describes their lives. For example, driftwood which they found during a beach walks, beautiful worn furniture from European flea markets, etc.

Ultra Lavish Flipped House by MCK

The Flipped House is incredible! It looks comfortable and fun, and if you look carefully, there are all kinds of neat light fixtures to drool over.

The contemporary interior is by MCK Architects, of course, but the choice of furnishings can be credited to the residents – an active family of four. This explains a few of the more interactive modern design features, like the wrap-around seating on the patio (perfect for barbecues) and a great classic snooker table for indoor fun.

An abundance of beautiful wood stretches from wall to wall, adding height and length where used. The island countertop in the kitchen is made of concrete and simply finished with a trowel-created texture – a very sensible and attractive solution.
