Eco Friendly Furniture by Flohr Design

Flohr Design makes some stylish furniture and interior products using a unique eco friendly material. It all started when Christian Reder planted some Sakhalin knotweed in his yard. The stuff grows like weeds, with tall shoots with luscious leaves. In order to keep it from soon taking over the whole yard, he had to cut a lot of it away but felt terrible about burning the tubular shoots, which happened to be very light but incredibly strong. Some experimentation led him to develop a unique material. He embedded the shoots into a mixture of cold glue and wood flour and now calls it Flohr. Looking closely at the furniture, you can see the cross sectioned material, which reveals an interesting perforated texture and pattern – giving the pieces a very unique look. And since the material has such a short regrowth period, it makes it a perfectly sustainable and eco friendly solution for furniture and other interior products. Fun stuff! Rich Mid Century Retro Home In Los Angeles

Los Angeles, California is home to so many classic, mid-century modern homes– and the Meyerhofer Residence isn’t a whole lot different, except for its completely retro vibe. The 4480 square foot abode in the Flintwood area of L.A. is almost surreal. Designed byOsborn Architects about 5 years ago, this home is teeming with mid-century sophistication.

There’s a superb eclectic collection of found goods, exquisite furniture and rich colors throughout; and the wood paneling on the walls in the various rooms is in top notch condition. From the artichoke pendant to the driftwood furniture pieces and supple leather– this home isn’t lacking in any area. Via: Enpundit

Minimalist Orion Mirror Integrating Charming Coat Hanger

Swiss studio Sofia Designers combined two daily used objects into a simple design duo – a round mirror and a hanger – and named it the Orion Mirror. Showcasing that special charm displayed by versatile objects, this simple, round, multifunctional object minimizes complexity in favor of simplicity. Imagine catching your reflection in the 26 cm high mirror, leaving your coat to hang on the fluidly designed peg and continuing on with your daily activities. When you head out, you see the mirror again – it just seems worth it to see a beautifully designed object every time you interact with your coat. Not only clothes, but also keys and towels, shopping bags or hats can become part of the display. Made out of durable anodized aluminum and showcasing a minimalist but hard to ignore design, the Orion Mirror shows its creators’ industrial design influence and how Stéphane Badet and Laurent De Bernardini managed to update their knowledge to shape a contemporary home accessory.

Artistic Global Urban Space Vision On A New York Kitchen Wall [Video]

What you’re looking at is a kitchen wall, covered in drawings – a fluid design on a New York residential wall depicting the greatest monuments of several cities melting into a global artistic vision. The Global City Wall is the brainchild of artist Deck Two, who created a fresh perspective on two high white walls. Extending its dynamic shape across two walls, this black and white wall painting showcases the artist’s love for drawing. Found on Fubiz, Global City Wall is an inspirational project that must have started with sketches of different cities – the artist’s portfolio proves that this creative wall expression came after tackling with this idea for some time. There is even proof of the meticulous work that went into this project – a video by Nathalie Thomas and Lapicorey Dartigues which you can enjoy after the photos. Video

Top Laundry Room Storage Ideas

Dirty clothes, damp towels and balled up linens piled to the ceiling – errant fabric softener sheets, scattered detergent bottles, overflowing baskets and tangles of hangers.
