For big cities, space is definitely becoming a premium, but it seems that this trend is spreading to smaller centers and towns as well. That’s why designers and architects, and even clients, are quickly coming up with creative ideas and innovative design schemes which will turn even the dullest corner into a vibrant room.
An example is this 55 sqm Swedish apartment. While not exactly cramped on space, it is a great example of how one can maximize what is on offer by using smart ideas, a great color pallet (usually white for Scandinavian apartments) and appropriate décor.

With a total surface of 67 square meters, this cozy apartment in Moscow envisioned by studio Odnushechka did not leave us indifferent. The project consisted in the rehabilitation of a cramped space with a poor layout. For the architects, the main challenge was to get rid of various design elements that made the apartment feel unwelcoming and create an open space living area for socializing- all within a relatively tight surface.

Throughout the years, the living room has transformed from a formal parlor-esque space designed for entertaining guests to a cozy and relaxing everyday place for friends and family to kick back in front of the television or share stories about their day. Today, the purpose of your living room depends greatly on the size of your home. In larger houses, a living room may still be dedicated only to hosting company, but in most cases a living room may fulfill multiple functions – from a home theater or makeshift office to a party space for your children’s sleepovers.

SHED architects changed a barn into an amazing modern house. The shape of the barn remained but it was refined. Inside we can also see some details that remind of a barn like rough wood on the walls or natural wooden floor. Every room in the house is developed around a minimal palette of materials and color, with extensive re-use of existing barn materials. Some of these materials included the re-use of the original barn siding for interior paneling, re-milling of salvaged floor joists for stair material, trim and countertops. These pieces are durable. The interior thanks to these solutions is very warm and cozy.

A veranda is a place in our home where we can be closer to nature without going out. This is a perfect place for a breakfast or reading. This veranda is a big addition to the main building. The designers from Crisparchitects gave it a special style: it looks like a cozy classical English living room with a fireplace and characteristic furniture. Thanks to many windows there is much light and the colors chosen are airy and light. Ornately shaped chairs and airy glass table add some exquisite features to the space. But the most adorable thing is a big black piano – I think this piece makes all the interior so elegant that we can’t remove our eyes from it.
