German designer Daniel Heer, keeping on with his familial tradition, seeks to unite dissimilar fabrics into uniquely modern furniture designs. What he offers this time is a cubic form stool dubbed as Keil. We find it nothing short of stunning as the height-adjustable furniture (you can change the position too) offers multiple uses. More to it, KEIL doesn’t have any pins inside as it’s crafted from oak, walnut, and pear wood for the frame and fabric straps, premium grade leather or nylon webbing for the seating part. While the use of resources is restrained to a minimum possible, the concept doesn’t compromise with the artistic appeal. We would love to bring it home for its absolute simplicity and originality.
Norwegian designer Kaia Helene Lien Lisveen has created a simple, functional and modern dresser that displays a fun way of interacting with a piece of furniture. The Peekaboo Dresser features round elements integrated in a contemporary overall design.
The drawers open outwards by pushing them sideways. By using neutral colours, the designer ensured that the Peekaboo Dresser will match any modern home. The design and colour palette merge with the environment and create a stunning contemporary atmosphere. Hiding clutter can become a thing of the past – the dresser invites you to enjoy cleaning up and touching its round, sinuous shape.
Michiel Cornelissen has blown us away with this innovative and functional modern design, the incredible 36 Pencil Bowl. This designer bowl starts as nothing more than a simple “hub” with holes for hexagonal pencils – the most enjoyable part is creating your own colorful (or monochromatic) piece of functional artwork.
We think the 36 Pencil Bowl would be the perfect gift for a teacher, artist, or“perpetual pencil forgetter”. What do you think? Are you a fan of geek-style gadgets?
Functional and simple modern furniture is tall in the saddle now. This storage unit called An Furniture by Seoul designers KAMKAM is inspired by ax sheets (A3, A4, A5, etc) have “Golden Ratio” that promotes productivity by keeping the dimensions always in the same ratio of width: length when they are folded in half. Each piece can be reconstructed or configured the way you need: you can create a closet, a bookshelf, a storage cabinet and a drawer. The piece looks like a furniture sculpture, it’s irreplaceable, especially if you live alone. The colors would match almost any space.
