Scandinavian Spacious Attic Apartment Sizzles with Pristine Charm

For big cities, space is definitely becoming a premium, but it seems that this trend is spreading to smaller centers and towns as well. That’s why designers and architects, and even clients, are quickly coming up with creative ideas and innovative design schemes which will turn even the dullest corner into a vibrant room.

An example is this 55 sqm Swedish apartment. While not exactly cramped on space, it is a great example of how one can maximize what is on offer by using smart ideas, a great color pallet (usually white for Scandinavian apartments) and appropriate décor.

With a total surface of 67 square meters, this cozy apartment in Moscow envisioned by studio Odnushechka did not leave us indifferent. The project consisted in the rehabilitation of a cramped space with a poor layout. Gorgeous Glass House Connects With Its Surroundings Creating a Visual Spectacle

Modern architects and designers are placing as much emphasis on creating beautiful modern homes that stay connected with the environment around them at all times, as they are on sleek and stylish interiors. And in this effort to add visual space and make the exteriors a part of the house, one has seen a growing trend in employing glass extensively and expansively.

This stylish home located in Ramat Hasharon — a city on Israel’s central coastal strip in the south of the Sharon region — is all about living it up in an ultra0cool fashion. Designed by Levy-Chamizer Architects, the home does its best to ensure that the lines between the exterior and the interior are blurred by using floor-to-ceiling glass windows.

Original and Captivating Plate Paintings by Molly Hatch

Ceramics artist Molly Hatch recently presented her latest plate paintings at Sofa New York 2012, on behalf of Ferrin Gallery. Her projects are “based on historic source imagery from the print and drawing departments of the MFA Boston and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC“. Each composition is captivating and fun to decrypt. If you look carefully at the photos, you will observe how every plate is thoroughly and elegantly worked on, and how it acts as an artful puzzle piece for the entire “painting”. We decided to feature Molly’s work on Freshome, as a tribute to her original idea and talent. But we also believe her projects are suited for any modern decor with a personality.Would you consider having these unconventional paintings in your home? And where would you place them?

Ceramic Designer’s Residence Looks Like Modern Barn

Different tints and shades of white play an awesome game here. Does this have anything that gives a clue that this is a ceramic designers’ house? Why anything, in fact, everything implies to the same in one way or the other. Let’s take a tour through Norwegian-based ceramic designerSilje Aune Eriksen’s beautiful residence.

To complement the light tone of the rooms, contrasting accessories have been used. If you notice, every room has stuff ranging from lighter tomes to dark colors like jet black. The animal and bird figures and motifs also form part of the rooms. Even the kitchen is not spared. The arrangement of the rooms in certain angles put forward a messed up look, bringing in some funny charm.

Decorating with Bright, Modern White

In a complex design world, we have a tendency to overdo it – to see negative space as the enemy and cover every square inch of a room in colors, patterns, knick knacks, artwork and other elements. We’re often taught that when it comes to design, a room is a blank slate to be filled with items that reflect your own personal tastes in every corner. However, all too often, it is easy to forget the power of white. Simple and pure, using white as the primary principle of your design can make a louder statement than even the boldest patterns in the world.
