Tasteful Display of Contemporary Design in a Cozy Moscow Apartment

With a total surface of 67 square meters, this cozy apartment in Moscow envisioned by studio Odnushechka did not leave us indifferent. The project consisted in the rehabilitation of a cramped space with a poor layout. For the architects, the main challenge was to get rid of various design elements that made the apartment feel unwelcoming and create an open space living area for socializing- all within a relatively tight surface.

Solid Wood Stools by Karim Rashid for Riva1920

Riva 1920 is passionate about working with solid wood – so it’s no wonder that the Fiore and Delta stools designed by Karim Rashid were quickly swept up by the brand. Both stools are fun and unconventional with loads of personality. Both are made from solid cedar wood. Fiore clearly resembles a flower, each outer unit reminding us of a petal. Delta can remind us of many things, one being change due to its random shape, another could it be its vague reference to triangles or maybe a split of some kind, if we’re considering its name, that is. Either way, these stools boast highly original designs. They make great accent pieces that are not only good for sitting on, but that could also warm a space and instill intrigue. Find out more at Riva1920.

Rich Mid Century Retro Home In Los Angeles

Los Angeles, California is home to so many classic, mid-century modern homes– and the Meyerhofer Residence isn’t a whole lot different, except for its completely retro vibe. The 4480 square foot abode in the Flintwood area of L.A. is almost surreal. Designed byOsborn Architects about 5 years ago, this home is teeming with mid-century sophistication.

There’s a superb eclectic collection of found goods, exquisite furniture and rich colors throughout; and the wood paneling on the walls in the various rooms is in top notch condition. Hiding Clutter Behind Book Spines : Modern Library Storage Bin

Californian studio Able + Baker (A+B) imagined an idea that can hide clutter while giving the impression of displaying different book spines. The Modern Library Storage Bin constructs a design adapted to library shelves that serves the purpose of stylishly storing CDs and DVDs, pieces of papers, pens, magazines, you name it – as long as they fit in the 12″ x 12″ x 8″ format. These wooden boxes were adorned with repurposed library books, easy to integrate into a library or bookshelf, between your own real books. Designers say that the Modern Library Storage Bin fits great with the Ikea Expedit bookcase, but these fun and creative wooden storage boxes can be showcased on any shelf, any bookcase they fit in or even be left out on the table. These book spine-displaying boxes can also come with drawer hardware and they are hand crafted from ply maple. Each of the bins are unique – books are carefully chosen and artfully displayed to become part of the storage compartments.

Beach House in California Draws Inspiration From South East Asia

Nothing is more appealing that a beautiful beach house and while those on the Malibu coastline are indeed a huge catch, the 33rd Street Residence located in the southwestern part of Los Angeles County in Manhattan Beach is equally appealing.

Offering a perfect view of the vast blue Pacific along with the famed Malibu coastline, the home has been designed by Rockefeller Partners Architects keeping in mind the specific taste and needs of its residents. One of the distinct aspects of this lively home is the fact that it reflects architectural style and interior arrangement that borrows extensively from South East Asian design.

Creative Wood Table And Floor Lamps

Woodtable and Woodfloor are two matching lamps designed by Fernando and Humberto Campana. They both have similar features and share similar design but are different in size. They are made of solid teak over stainless steel structures. Lampshades can be adjusted in 2 positions. All wiring is hidden by a PMMA tube, making it suitable for outdoor use also. These creative lamps definitely have scenic approach. They give off an interesting type of light, with geometric beams projected on to the floor, wall and ceiling, giving ‘the impression of a forest,’ something like sun peaking through trees.
