Tasteful Display of Contemporary Design in a Cozy Moscow Apartment

With a total surface of 67 square meters, this cozy apartment in Moscow envisioned by studio Odnushechka did not leave us indifferent. The project consisted in the rehabilitation of a cramped space with a poor layout. For the architects, the main challenge was to get rid of various design elements that made the apartment feel unwelcoming and create an open space living area for socializing- all within a relatively tight surface.

DIY Beer Bottle Bud Vases

We have told of many cool vases – a cool fall pumpkin vase, industrial chic vaseand many others. These cuties are made of empty beer bottles, spray paint of various colors, painter’s tape and puff paint. Wash the bottles and peel the labels off. Spray two coats on a bottle, grab your painter’s tape and start making patterns. Use puff paint to create dotted designs that pop out from the bottle. Let dry for about 30 minutes before spray painting. Now add water and flowers and decorate your space with these cool and simple vases!

Colorful Renovation Of An Old Folding Chair

Old things shouldn’t be wasted and thrown away if you can give them a second life. To renovate a usual folding chair you’ll need a screwdriver, drop cloth, spray paint (2 cans per chair), fabric, scissors, a staple gun and staples. Remove the seat and place chair on drop cloth and wipe down with damp towel. Apply two coats of spray paint and let it dry overnight. Lay out new fabric and place seat cushion face down. Trace fabric along the cushion, cut and attach it using your staple gun. As the chair dries, put the new cushion and begin using!

Eco Friendly Furniture by Flohr Design

 

Flohr Design makes some stylish furniture and interior products using a unique eco friendly material. It all started when Christian Reder planted some Sakhalin knotweed in his yard. The stuff grows like weeds, with tall shoots with luscious leaves. In order to keep it from soon taking over the whole yard, he had to cut a lot of it away but felt terrible about burning the tubular shoots, which happened to be very light but incredibly strong. Some experimentation led him to develop a unique material. He embedded the shoots into a mixture of cold glue and wood flour and now calls it Flohr. Looking closely at the furniture, you can see the cross sectioned material, which reveals an interesting perforated texture and pattern – giving the pieces a very unique look. And since the material has such a short regrowth period, it makes it a perfectly sustainable and eco friendly solution for furniture and other interior products. Fun stuff!
